Speaking with Coloradans in Grand Junction

Hosting a town hall in Grand Junction.

What I did: This week, I hosted a town hall in Grand Junction where I spoke with Coloradans about issues that matter to them. We discussed everything from combating President Trump’s trade war to funding public education across our state. In case you missed it, you can watch the full town hall here.

What I believe: As I travel across our state to have these important conversations, it is clear that Coloradans are fed up with the Trump administration’s short-sighted actions. Now more than ever, we must work together to protect Colorado from this administration’s chaos. I am grateful to everyone who participated in this meaningful discussion.

2. Supporting Colorado’s Rural Health Providers

Meeting with rural health care providers on the Western Slope alongside Rep. Hurd.

What I did: This week, Colorado U.S. Representative Jeff Hurd and I met with rural health care providers on the Western Slope to discuss the challenges they face. Our conversation touched on numerous challenges, such as financial strain and growing workforce shortages that make it harder for these Colorado providers to serve their communities.

What’s next:
I’ll continue doing everything I can to ensure our rural health centers and hospitals have the resources they need.

3. Celebrating Earth Day

What’s happening:
This week, we celebrated Earth Day. Started in 1970, Earth Day reminds us of the importance of protecting Colorado’s 8.3 million acres of public lands and the civil servants who ensure our access to them.

What I believe:
Now more than ever, it is vital to protect Colorado’s public lands and safeguard our precious natural resources. On Earth Day and every day, we must work together to preserve our wild spaces for future generations.

4. IN THE NEWS THIS WEEK

  • As President Trump’s trade war threatens the U.S. economy and our relationships with key partners, I’m doing everything I can to fight back. This includes pushing for my bipartisan Americas Act, which will renew U.S. partnerships and create joint economic prosperity across the Western Hemisphere.
  • After 75 years, a Colorado soldier killed in the Korean War will soon return home to be laid to rest. I’m thinking of U.S. Army Sergeant Orace Mestas’ family and loved ones. I’m grateful this American hero will finally receive the recognition and dignity he deserves.
  • Sunday marked 26 years since the Columbine shooting took the lives of 12 Colorado students and a teacher. On the anniversary of this senseless act of gun violence, my thoughts are with the victims, their loved ones, and the countless lives that were altered by this tragedy.
