I
sent President Trump recommendations
of four
highly
qualified
Iowa lawyers
to
fill
a
federal
district
court
vacancy
in
the
Northern
District
of
Iowa
in
Cedar
Rapids. These
individuals
have
the
outstanding
qualifications
required
to
be
considered
for
a
lifetime
appointment
to
the
federal
judiciary,
and
I’m
pleased
to
put
forward
their
names
for
the
President’s
consideration.
I
completed
my
37th
year
of
my
annual 99
county
meetings,
this
time
in
Boone
County.
Iowans
expect
access
to
their
elected
officials,
and
they
deserve
it.
I
started the tradition
when
I started
serving
Iowans
as
their
senator
that
I
would
make
it
my
business
to
keep
in
touch
by
holding
face-to-face
dialogue
in
every
Iowa
county
every
year.
This
has
always
been
a
priority
to
me.
Even
though
I've
finished
my
99
county
meetings,
I
will
continue
to
hold
question-and-answer
sessions
with
Iowans
across
the
state.
At
Camp
Dodge, I
presented six
Iowa
veterans
and
their
families
with their
earned military
medals.
Holding
these
ceremonies gives
me
the
opportunity
to
do
something
I
don’t
think
we
do
often
enough,
and
that
is
thanking
our
brave
men
and
women
who
put
their
lives
on
the
line
in
defense
of the
American
people.
I
also
honored
a
Des
Moines
couple
as
"Angels
in
Adoption"
for
their
dedication
to
improving the
lives
of
children
through
foster
care
and
adoption.
October
is Breast
Cancer
Awareness
Month.
My
wife,
Barbara,
is
a
30-year
breast
cancer
survivor.
Awareness
and
prevention
are
critical
to
overcoming
the
disease.
My
wife
talks
about
commons
myths and
the
facts about
breast
cancer in
this
column. We
encourage
you
to
share
it
with
the
women
in
your
life.
