Hoosier law enforcement officers work tirelessly to keep our communities safe.

On Law Enforcement Appreciation Day today, I visited with officers from the Speedway Police Department and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Southeast District to thank them for serving and protecting Hoosiers.

Last week, I was sworn in for a second term in the United States Senate.

It is an honor to continue serving Indiana in the Senate. Over the next six years, I will do my best to represent our state and ensure all Hoosiers have the ability to reach their potential.

Making Pilot Training More Affordable

I recently visited Republic Airways' LIFT Academy, located at the Indianapolis International Airport. LIFT Academy is working to make pilot training more affordable and equipping pilots to be ready for the job on day one. LIFT's program also is helping to alleviate the pilot shortage, which will help make air travel more efficient. 

Law to Counter China in the Indo-Pacific

The U.S. Pacific Islands Embassy Act – a bipartisan, bicameral bill that I helped lead –was signed into law in December. The Indo-Pacific is a region of active competition with China, and our Pacific Island partners are especially vulnerable to Chinese coercion.

This legislation will counter the Chinese Communist Party through increased American diplomacy, including establishing physical U.S. Embassies on the Pacific Island nations of the Solomon Islands, Kiribati, and Tonga, and authorizing expanded physical presence on Vanuatu to reinforce American leadership in the Pacific region.
