Grassley
Direct
I
held
my
weekly
phone
call
with
Iowa
radio
networks
and
discussed
the
unnecessary government
shutdown
and
DACA.
Q&A:
5
Things
Farmers
Need
to
Watch
in
2018
Q.
What
are
five
things
farmers
ought
to
watch
in
2018?
Q.
What
are
your
legislative
and
oversight
priorities
relative
to
these
five
issues?
Quick

It’s
a
shame
it
took
three
days
and
millions
in
wasted
taxpayer
dollars
for
common
sense
to
prevail,
but
I’m
glad
the
government
re-opened.
Millions
of
families
with
kids
who
rely
on
the
Children’s
Health
Insurance
Program
now
know
it
will
be
extended
for
six
years
and
our men
and
women
in
uniform,
who
give
so
much
to
our
country,
won't
have
to
worry
about
their
next
paycheck.
As
chairman
of
the
Senate
Judiciary
Committee,
I
pressed
the
FBI
for
answers
about
a
series
of
questions
raised
by
recently
produced
text
messages
exchanged
between
FBI
officials
Lisa
Page
and
Peter
Strzok.
I
also
asked
the
Justice
Department
internal
watchdog
why
the
FBI
did
not
preserve
five
months
of
those
text
messages. The text
messages
that
were
provided raise
serious
concerns
about
the
impartiality
of
senior
leadership
running
both
the
Clinton
and
Trump
investigations.
In
an
op-ed,
I
describe
making
a
promise
to
Iowa
farmers
and
all
American
taxpayers
on
the
floor
of
the
Senate
four
years
ago
to
never
give
up
the
fight
to
reform
farm
subsidy
programs. Opportunity
is
again
knocking
on
the
Senate’s
door,
and
I
will
again
answer
by
presenting
commonsense
reforms,
such
as
enacting
payment
limits
for
farm
subsidies,
maintaining
effective
crop
insurance
programs
and
modernizing
the
Conservation
Reserve
Program.
As
Congress
begins
negotiating
a
new
Farm
Bill, I
will
keep
pushing
for
reforms that
provide
assistance
to
those
who
truly
need
help.
January
is
Cervical
Health
Awareness
Month. About
13,200
women
in
the
U.S.
will
be
diagnosed
with
cervical
cancer
in
2018
and
more
than
4,100
will
die
of
the
disease.
In
Iowa
alone,
110
women
will
be
diagnosed
with
cervical
cancer.
My
wife
Barbara
wrote
an
op-ed
to
discuss six
important
things
people
should know
about
cervical
cancer. Barbara
is
a
30-year
breast
cancer
survivor
and
knows
firsthand
the
importance
of
going
in
for
screenings. You
can
read
her op-ed
here.
