I
spoke
with
several
agriculture
journalists
on
my
weekly
call
about
infrastructure funding,
the
SNAP
program,
Secretary
Northey's
nomination
to
USDA,
crop
insurance
and
the
Farm
Bill.

Q. What
happened
within
weeks
of
the
“Tax

being
signed
into
law?
Q. How
does
reducing
the
corporate
tax
rate
help
individual
Americans?

I'll
continue
my
annual 99
county
meetings with
four
town
meetings
in
Davis,
Van
Buren,
Louisa
and
Delaware
counties
next
week.
Senator
Joni
Ernst
and
I
nominated
four
lawyers
from
Iowa
for federal
judgeships
last
year.
President
Trump
announced
that
one
of
our
recommendations,
C.J.
Wiliams,
was
nominated
to
serve
as
the
U.S.
district
judge
for
the
northern
district
of
Iowa. We
are
eager
to
introduce
him
to
our
colleagues
during
the
confirmation
process.
The
Senate
Judiciary
Committee
voted
to
advance
my
bipartisan, comprehensive
criminal
justice reform legislation. This
bill
addresses
legitimate
over-incarceration
concerns
while
targeting
violent
criminals
and
masterminds
in
the
drug
trade. It’s
the
product
of
thoughtful
bipartisan
deliberation,
and
I
thank
my
colleagues
for
their
hard
work
to
promote
opportunities
to
reduce
recidivism
while
protecting
our
communities
from
violent
career
criminals.
This
week,
I introduced
legislation with
Senator
Michael
Bennet
of
Colorado that
will
help
families
access
life-saving
care
for
children
with
complex
medical
conditions.
The
bill
would streamline
the
screening and
enrollment
processes
for
out-of-state
pediatric
care
providers,
making
it
easier
for
patients
to
receive
the
care
they
need
in
a
timely
manner. These
children and
their
families
have
plenty
to
worry
about
without
adding
the
stress
of dealing
with
bureaucratic
red
tape.
This
commonsense
legislation
will
relieve
some
of
that
burden
by
making
the
process
simpler
and
more
efficient
at
no
additional
cost
to
families.
