The Senate Judiciary Committee, which I chair, held a joint hearing with the Senate Commerce Committee to examine Facebook, social media privacy and the use and abuse of data. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg testified on what he sees as Facebook’s most pressing problems and what his company is doing to fix them. I also wrote an op-ed in Fortune Magazine about why this hearing was important: to gather information and begin an open dialogue about how we address growing consumer privacy concerns.

From rural America to the coasts and everywhere in between, the opioid epidemic ruins lives, families and entire communities. I joined Senators Richard Blumenthal and Joni Ernst in introducing the Access to Increased Drug Disposal Act of 2018. The bipartisan bill is designed to increase participation in federal prescription drug take-back programs to help combat prescription drug abuse and the growing opioid epidemic.

In response to a January letter I sent with Senators John Thune, Roy Blunt, Deb Fischer and Joni Ernst, the EPA again confirmed that oil refiners aren’t negatively impacted by compliance with the Renewable Fuel Standard. EPA’s response to our letter should put to bed any argument that the RFS is hurting small oil refiners. Biofuels help make our air cleaner, energy cheaper and country stronger with more domestic energy production.
