Ban Members of Congress from Trading Stocks

Image

Recent polling shows that 86% of Americans favor of banning members of Congress from trading stocks.

I spoke on the Senate floor in support of two bills that would ban Congress from trading stocks. As members of Congress, we have access to briefings and updates on a regular basis that provide nonpublic market information. Currently, there is little to prohibit elected officials from using such privileged information to guide their personal selection of stocks.

The Restore Trust in Congress Act would stop insider trading by members of Congress, their spouses, and dependent children through banning the ownership and trading of individual stocks. The Stop Insider Trading Act would prohibit members of Congress, their spouses, and dependent children from purchasing publicly traded stocks and mandates a seven-day public notice period before any stock sales can be executed. Congress should pass either of these bills.

Maj. Nicholas Dockery demonstrated sacrifice and unwavering commitment to our nation and his fellow soldiers during his time in Afghanistan. It was an honor to see this Hoosier receive the Medal of Honor from President Trump  at the White House last week. Watch more here.

PASTEUR Act Will Help Fight Antimicrobial Resistance

Image

I joined with some of my Senate colleagues to introduce the Pioneering Antimicrobial Subscriptions to End Upsurging Resistance (PASTEUR) Act to encourage innovative drug development targeting the most threatening infections, improve the appropriate use of antibiotics and antifungals, and ensure domestic availability of critical antibiotics when needed.

Superbugs have become a growing public health crisis in recent years. As antimicrobial resistance has spread, market failures have resulted in a lack of needed investment in research and development.

Our bill would incentivize the advancement of new innovative antibiotics and focus on educating health care providers on how to avoid overprescribing of these life-saving medications in order to slow the emergence of antibiotic-resistant pathogens.

Shipbuilding is a National Security Priority

Image

I joined the Washington Times for a conversation on congressional leadership, supply chains, and Indo-Pacific preparedness at IndoPac 2026. We need to be thinking of shipbuilding capacity every bit as much as our military capacity as a strategic asset that needs investment. Watch my comments here.

My bill, the SHIPS for America Act, would provide the resources and support needed to revitalize our commercial shipbuilding industry. Congress needs to pass this legislation so the United States can start making American ships again.

See a summary of the bill here.

Ensuring U.S. Leadership in Quantum Technologies

Image

This week, President Trump signed an executive order to supercharge U.S. innovation in quantum technologies and strengthen our national security in this critical area.

I applaud this leadership from President Trump and the Administration on quantum. We need to ensure the United States has the talent and research capabilities required to lead the global tech competition and outcompete China. Quantum technologies promise to dramatically transform every industry and sector of our economy and revolutionize our technological capabilities.

I’ve introduced the National Quantum Initiative Reauthorization Act to accelerate quantum technology development and real-world applications that are vital to U.S. national security and global economic competitiveness.
