Senator Scott Welcomes Rachel Lewis to Internship Program in Greenville Office

Greenville, SC - Senator Tim Scott is pleased to announce that Greenville native, Rachel Lewis, is serving in his Greenville office internship program.  Rachel Lewis, an upstate Special Olympian with Down Syndrome, is mentioned frequently when Senator Scott speaks about his opportunity agenda and his goal to help kids with special needs reach their educational goals. Rachel earned her high school diploma from Hidden Treasures Christian School in Taylors, and landed two jobs post graduation.

“Rachel Lewis is an optimistic, energetic and smart young lady, and I am glad she is serving in my Greenville office this fall,” Scott said. “When we release the potential in each kid in our country, we witness their success, and Rachel’s story is proof. Her parents fought for the best education for Rachel, and because of that, she is able to achieve the American Dream."

Scott continued, “Rachel has shown professionalism and maturity in handling all of her work assignments, and I am very proud of all of her accomplishments. We enjoy having Rachel on the team, and I hope that her time in my office will be useful as she continues on her career path.”

Rachel spends much of her time serving the people of South Carolina—she is helping with the special recognition program, assisting with constituent services, and attending meetings in the region with staff.
