Calling Out the Chinese Communist Party

Reports show that for nearly two decades, the Chinese Communist Party has threatened America’s national security by using tools such as grants, sister school partnerships, “Confucius Classrooms,” and other state-sponsored programming to compromise the integrity of America’s K-12 educational system. 

This week, I led seventeen of my Senate colleagues in urging the U.S. Department of Education conduct a nationwide audit to determine the extent of funding from hostile foreign adversaries in schools. I’ll never stop working to protect the integrity of our education system and defend our national security.

Remembering Our Afghanistan Heroes

This week was the two-year anniversary of the Biden administration’s deadly withdrawal from Afghanistan. The botched withdrawal was a tragedy for our nation, empowering the Taliban and erasing hard-fought freedoms. The American people deserve answers and accountability for this failure of leadership. We must never forget the American heroes lost, and my heart goes out to the families they left behind.

Securing Our Border

Since President Biden took office, historic numbers of illegal immigrants have crossed our southern border, with crossings surging last month. Unfortunately, instead of securing our border, the Biden administration has doubled down on its open border policy, moving ahead with plans to auction off nearly $260 million worth of border wall construction materials.  

This week, I called out the Biden administration’s blatant dereliction of duty, expressing concerns over its actions to auction off critical border security materials for a fraction of their value, waste taxpayer dollars, and bypass Congress’s efforts to secure the border. The American people deserve real solutions such as my Securing Our Border Act, that will enforce our laws, and protect our families.

Spilling the #SCSweetTea on Charleston

This week, the Palmetto State celebrated National South Carolina Day! I’m excited to see the rest of the country catching on to our iconic towns and thriving culture as we gain national recognition. My hometown, Charleston, was recently named to Travel + Leisure’s list for the top 15 cities in America, highlighting the unique history and vibrant food scene we enjoy. From our beautiful shoreline to our famous Southern hospitality, I’m proud to celebrate South Carolina each and every day.
