Dear
Friends,
The
U.S.
House
of
Representatives
took
a
big
step
forward
this
week
in
our
effort
to
help
provide
hardworking
Americans
with
more
jobs,
fairer
taxes
and
bigger
paychecks.
On
Thursday,
the
House
Ways
and
Means
Committee
delivered
a
tax
reform
package
that
will
simplify
our
broken
tax
code
and
show
the
world
that
the
United
States
will
again
be
a
world-class
competitor
in
the
global
marketplace.
As
we
step
up
our
work
on
our
Senate
tax
reform
proposal
that
will
soon
be
released,
we’re
committed
to
moving
this
once-in-a-generation
legislation
through
regular
order
to
ensure
the
debate
continues
to
be
open
and
transparent.
Our
end
goal
is
to
come
together
with
our
colleagues
in
the
House
of
Representatives
to
advance
pro-growth
tax
reform
that
will
lower
taxes
for
Americans
and
job-creating
businesses
in
our
country.
On
Wednesday,
I
was
interviewed
for
Georgia
television
stations
WGXA
in
Macon
and
WFXL
in
Albany
where
I
discussed
our
work
in
Congress
on
tax
reform,
our
progress
this
year
for
our
veterans
and
federal
support
for
combatting
local
crimes.
Pressing
Forward
on
Judicial
Confirmations
The
Senate
continues
to
work
on
confirming
President
Trump’s
nominees
despite
continued
delay
tactics
by
some
members
of
the
Senate.
This
week,
we
confirmed
five
qualified
nominees
to
circuit
and
district
courts.
Together
with
the
president,
we
will
continue
working
hard
to
put
judges
on
the
federal
courts
who
will
uphold
the
law
as
it’s
written.
Being
There
for
Our
Veterans
President
Trump
has
proclaimed
November
as
Veterans
and
Military
Families
Month.
With
an
entire
month
of
activities
planned
nationwide,
we
will
honor
the
significant
contributions
made
by
American
service
members,
their
families
and
loved
ones.
I
encourage
you
to
take
some
time
this
month
to
honor
and
say
thank
you
to
our
military
families
whose
strength
and
support
is
invaluable.
In
the
Senate
Committee
on
Veterans’
Affairs,
we
are
making
progress
on
legislation
to
enhance
care
for
veterans
and
are
continuing
to
move
forward
nominations
for
the
U.S.
Department
of
Veterans
Affairs.
In
Other
News:
- Secretary
of
State
Rex
Tillerson
and
Secretary
of
Defense
Jim
Mattis
presented
the
administration’s
perspective
on
the
Authorizations
for
the
Use
of
Military
Force
at
the
Senate
Foreign
Relations
Committee
hearing
on
Monday.
What’s
on
tap?
Next
week,
the
Senate
will
continue
working
to
confirm
nominees
who
require
Senate
approval.
I
will
also
continue
my
work
with
the
Senate
Finance
Committee
on
tax
reform
to
help
American
jobs
and
families.
Sincerely,
|
