ON THE ROAD

This week I joined the Mineral Wells community in celebrating the HINO Motors Manufacturing plant grand opening. I applaud this new $40 million investment that is adding 250 more jobs to the facility.

Twelve years ago as Governor, I was honored to lead the team that brought the Hino Motors Manufacturing Facility to our state and I am so proud of this company and its team members. I have witnessed firsthand the determination of the entire Hino group to ensuring quality, teamwork and an investment in our state. West Virginia is such a perfect location for business for many reasons, but most notably because of our people

Hino Motors Manufacturing Facility in West Virginia started production in 2007 and initially had a workforce of a little over 100 employees. The company has expanded many times and invested hundreds of millions since, including in their new manufacturing facility in Mineral Wells and now employs more than 800 employees.

The Putnam County Senior Picnic is a great event that brings the senior community together. I'll continue to fight for West Virginia's seniors and ensure they can have the quality of life they have earned.

The town of Chapmanville broke ground on Tuesday on a $7.2 million wastewater collection and treatment system improvement project. Upon completion, treatment capacity will be extended to residents of Logan County and the water quality of the Guyandotte River will be vastly improved. As your U.S. Senator, I am proud to be your voice with government agencies during your time of need. My goal is for me and my staff to provide the best possible customer service for every West Virginian who contacts me needing assistance. While I have no direct jurisdiction in legal or administrative matters of any federal, state, or local agency, I welcome the opportunity to assist you in any way possible and to assure that full consideration is given to your case. See one of our recent success stories below:

Mrs. Amie Fazalare from Shinnston contacted the Senator for assistance with an error on her new U.S. Passport, and her travel date was quickly approaching.  As a result of Caseworker Sylvia Asbury's inquiry, Mrs. Fazalare was able to have her passport corrected and keep her travel plans.

Social Security Phone Scam - Learn How to Protect Yourself

Social Security employees do occasionally contact people--generally those who have ongoing business with the agency--by telephone for business purposes. However, Social Security employees will never threaten a person or promise a Social Security benefit approval, or increase, in exchange for information. In those cases, the call is fraudulent and people should not engage with the caller. If a person receives these calls, he or she should report the information to the OIG Fraud Hotline at 1-800-269-0271 or online at https://oig.ssa.gov/report.

To watch a PSA about the scam, click here or visit www.ssa.gov for more information.

Social Security has recently worked with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission to create a new fraud prevention placemat to help you avoid Social Security scams. You can order free copies of the placemat to use at dining venues, or to share with friends and family. The placemat is in English on one side and Spanish on the other side.
