Wishing You a Happy and Safe Independence Day

While the Fourth of July is a time to commemorate the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, it is also a time to reflect on our nation’s history and core values by honoring those who have risked their lives to defend and protect our nation, and who continue to do so today.  It is because of their unwavering service that we continue to live with freedom, opportunity, and equality.

I ask you to join me in taking a moment to reflect on the unwavering and loyal service of all our nation’s heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice defending our freedom. For those serving today, we continue to pray for their safety and speedy return home to their families. It is because of all of our Veterans – past and present - that we can proudly proclaim that we are the land of the free.

This Independence Day, we will gather with our families, our friends and our communities to celebrate the birth of our great nation. Even with all our challenges and troubles, the United States of America is still the hope of the world, and it is up to us to keep our torch of freedom burning bright for the next generation.

Today and every day, I am proud to serve the people of the great state of West Virginia and I am proud to be an American. God Bless the great state of West Virginia and God Bless America.

MANCHIN MOVES MOUNTAINS

Jennifer of Charleston contacted Senator Manchin for help expediting her COVID-19 test so she and her husband could take a previously planned trip to Hawaii for her birthday and their belated honeymoon. The trip required a negative COVID-19 test within 48 hours of the last stretch of their flight by a company that was approved by the state of Hawaii. Without the test results, they would need to be quarantined for their entire trip. The results were taking too long and they became concerned they would either miss their trip or need to be quarantined and not be able to properly enjoy their vacation. After contacting various resources, within a day, Senator Manchin’s office was able to arrange a rapid test at a company approved by Hawaii. Their results were processed quickly and Jennifer and her husband were able to enjoy their vacation.

ON THE ROAD

Last weekend, Senator Manchin's staff attended the health fair hosted by A More Excellent Way Life Center Church in Charleston. Bringing this information directly to our communities is an important step to making our home state an even better, healthier place to live, work, and raise a family.

This week, Senator Manchin's staff attended the ribbon cutting for Fusion Esports and Gaming, a new business in Vienna. I truly appreciate the owners and staff, as well as the Mid-Ohio Valley Chamber of Commerce for working hard to make this grand opening celebration possible. The opening of any new business during these challenging times is something to celebrate.
