MANCHIN STATEMENT ON HIGHEST INFLATION IN FOUR DECADES

“Let me be clear, inflation is a tax and today’s historic inflation data tells another chilling story about how these taxes on Americans are completely out of control. Hard earned wages and financial savings are disappearing faster every month as prices continue to climb, while the pain and frustration of spending more on everyday items lingers over us all, especially among those who can afford it the least. Americans are seeing some of the largest increases in goods such as gas up 48%, beef up 16%, chicken and milk up 13%, and staples like coffee and eggs are up 11%."

WE MUST CONTINUE TO USE TITLE 42 TO PROTECT OUR BORDERS

We are still in the midst of a global pandemic & I think it's imperative that we continue to use Title 42 to protect our country from any type of infectious disease coming in or any new variant of COVID-19. Title 42 should be enacted until we get complete border security.

I met with students from the Rockefeller School of Policy and Politics at West Virginia University who swept the top three prizes in a video contest by Bipartisan Policy Center on how to address the rising national debt. Congratulations on this incredible accomplishment — I am taking notes!

Daniel of Monongalia County reached out to my office for help with his federal 2019 tax return. Daniel filed his taxes on July 2020. After my office connected with the IRS and several corrections were made on the account, the tax due was reduced to zero dollars.

Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program Available to Eligible Residents

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resource (DHHR) is now accepting applications for the Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) until funds are exhausted. This federally funded program assists eligible state residents in paying water or wastewater bills. Eligibility is based on income, household size and whether the household is responsible for paying water or wastewater bills.
