Last week, I joined Premier Jason Kenney in Alberta, Canada to discuss the importance of strengthening North America’s collective energy security. A strong North American Energy Alliance can fuel worldwide economic development while promoting global peace and stability. Canada, like the United States, is blessed with abundant natural resources that can be used to eliminate our dependence on Russian and Chinese energy and critical mineral supply chains while allowing us to meet our shared climate goals.

Last week I was honored to join my dear friend Senator Lisa Murkowski at the Arctic Encounters Symposium last week. As Russia and China expand their military, economic and energy ties in the Arctic, we must be proactive in convening our allies in the region and NATO to make Arctic security a top priority.


MANCHIN, CAPITO ANNOUNCE $8.2 MILLION FOR TWELVE WEST VIRGINIA HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS

“Our healthcare providers have gone above and beyond to care for their fellow West Virginias throughout the pandemic, and I’m pleased multiple healthcare providers are receiving support through the Provider Relief Fund to continue their critical work. This funding will support our healthcare centers, providers, pharmacies and first responders, which are all essential to our COVID-19 response.”

I was proud to recognize these AmeriCorps NCCC volunteers who assisted folks in the greater Marion County area with their tax returns. If you haven't filed your federal tax return, don't forget to file your return or file for an extension today!

Donna of Moundsville contacted my office for urgent assistance with shut off notices she had received for her electricity. After my staff sent an inquiry to the West Virginia Public Service Commission on her behalf, Donna was able to make arrangements and was able to avoid a total shut off of her electricity.

Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program Available to Eligible Residents

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resource (DHHR) is now accepting applications for the Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) until funds are exhausted. This federally funded program assists eligible state residents in paying water or wastewater bills. Eligibility is based on income, household size and whether the household is responsible for paying water or wastewater bills.
