Kanawha Valley Senior Services

I visited Kanawha Valley Senior Services in Charleston as part of my “Serving Our Seniors” tour. I heard from seniors who are on fixed incomes who can’t afford out-of-control prescription drug prices. Social Security and Medicare are not just government programs, they are promises made by a thankful nation to ensure a quality of life well-earned from years of hard work and sacrifice.

Health Care for Veterans

Medical Foster Homes are private residences where the caregiver and relief caregivers provide care and supervision 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A Medical Foster Home can serve as an alternative to a nursing home.

The program recently expanded to the Beckley VA Medical Center, offering a long-term home environment for Veterans who are unable to live independently.

Mr. Lyons of Hurricane contacted my office asking for assistance with his pending Transportation Worker Identification Credential application. As a result of an injury from my staff, the application was processed.

My staff was on site to provide assistance at several senior centers across the state: Lewis County Senior Center; Raleigh County Commission On Aging; Gilmer County Senior Center; Senior Life Services of Morgan County; Mingo County Senior Center; Clay County Senior Center; Brooke County Senior Center; Monroe County Council on Aging.

POWER INITIATIVE - Appalachian Regional Commission is making up to $65 million available to leverage entrepreneurship, workforce development, infrastructure, agriculture, and other projects to enhance job training and reemployment opportunities, create jobs in existing or new industries, and attract new sources of private investment in coal-impacted communities. STAFFING FOR ADEQUATE FIRE AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE (SAFER) - Created to provide funding directly to fire departments and volunteer firefighter interest organizations to help them increase or maintain the number of trained, "front line" firefighters available in their communities.
