105th American Legion

Last weekend, I attended the 105th Annual American Legion State Conference in Huntington to thank West Virginia Veterans for the incredible sacrifices they have made for our country. I applaud our Legionnaires for their tireless efforts in assisting our Veterans and their families.

RANDOLPH COUNTY’S HIGH INTENSITY DRUG TRAFFICKING AREAS

Randolph County is the 24th West Virginia county to be designated a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA).
"This new designation will support our local, state and federal law enforcement officers to ensure they have the support necessary to reduce the supply of illicit drugs like fentanyl, prevent overdoses, protect communities and save lives."

The Veterans Benefits Administration is coming to Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg on July 13th from 1 PM to 7 PM to host a claims clinic focused on PACT Act benefits claims for the Veterans in West Virginia.

Mrs. Manning of Elkview contacted my office requesting assistance with her WVDHHR. Mrs. Manning's daughter was advised that she no longer had medical coverage. As a result of the an inquiry from my office, the coverage was reinstated and backdated.

HEALTH INSURANCE OPTIONS - Those who no longer qualify for Medicaid and CHIP can turn to the Marketplace for insurance coverage. 4 in 5 customers are able to find health coverage for $10 or less a month. Visit Healthcare.gov or call 1-800-318-2596 for more information and to enroll.

UNINSURED/UNDERINSURED INDIVIDUALS - Many clinics throughout the state offer free or low-cost health care options for West Virginians. Use this search tool to find a clinic in your area.

HEALTH CARE FOR VETERANS - Medical Foster Homes are private residences that can serve as an alternative to a nursing home. Learn more about the program which provides highly individualized assistance in a non-institutional setting.
