Honoring
Our
Desert
Shield
and
Desert
Storm
Veterans
The
men
and
women
who
have
served
in
our
armed
forces
deserve
to
be
recognized
for
their
willingness
to
defend
our
country
against
those
who
would
harm
us.
On
August
27th,
I
will
host
Desert
Shield
and
Desert
Storm
Honor
Ceremonies
in
Greenville
and
Charleston.
Since
being
elected
to
federal
office,
I
have
hosted
several
honor
ceremonies
for
South
Carolina’s
veterans
in
an
effort
to
show
appreciation
for
all
that
they
and
their
families
have
sacrificed.
In
2012, World
War
Two
veterans
were
honored,
in
2013
I
held two
ceremonies
celebrating
our
Korean
War
era
veterans,
and
in
2014 our
Vietnam
War
era
veterans
were
honored.
Each
veteran
will
receive
a
special
Senatorial
Certificate
of
Appreciation
and
a
pin.
All
interested
veterans
should
register
with
my
office
by
visiting scott.senate.gov/veterans
or
calling
844-872-7626.

Ransom
Money
After
weeks
of
denials,
the
Administration
finally
admitted
that
they
gave
Iran
$400
million
in
ransom
payments.
We
are
all
happy
to
see
Americans
unjustly
imprisoned
in
Iran
return
home,
but
the
President
has
set
a
dangerous
precedent
and
put
a
price
on
American
lives.
This
reckless
decision
making
and
lack
of
transparency
only
adds
to
the
American
public’s
distrust
of
this
Administration's
dangerous
foreign
policy.
On
an
international
level,
negotiating
with
a
country
that
we
know
supports
terrorism
undermines
our
presence.
This
is
not
the
leadership
our
country
needs.
Obamacare
in
Freefall
As
Obamacare
continues
to
fail,
we
have
consistently
seen
a
lack
of
options,
rising
premiums
and
high
deductibles
for
American
families
across
the
country.
Aetna’s
looming
departure
from
the
healthcare
exchange
will
now
leave
many
South
Carolinians
with
only
two
choices
for
healthcare.
South
Carolinians
deserve
to
have
choices
when
it
comes
to
selecting
the
best
care
for
their
families,
and
the
Affordable
Care
Act
has
proven
time
and
time
again
that
it
has
negatively
impacted
how
Americans
are
covered.
It
is
time
that
the
Administration
stop
trying
to
prop-up
a
bill
that
was
flawed
to
begin
with.
Around
South
Carolina
Last
week,
I
continued
my
road
trip
around
South
Carolina
and
stopped
in
Georgetown,
Kingstree,
Manning
and
Columbia.
In
Georgetown,
I
met
some
great
young
men
at
the
Tara
Hall
Home
for
Boys,
in
Kingstree
I
sat
down
with
officials
from
Williamsburg
Technical
College,
and
in
Manning
I
had
a
town
hall
with
constituents
from
around
the
area.
I
also
had
the
privilege
of
sitting
down
with
Congressman
Trey
Gowdy,
law
enforcement
officials
and
pastors
from
across
the
state
of
South
Carolina
to
discuss
what
needs
to
be
done
to
improve
community-police
relations.
You
can
check
out
The
State
article
here.
Hearing
from
constituents
from
around
the
state
is
the
best
part
of
my
job.
I
look
forward
to
continuing
my
46
county
tour
in
the
months
to
come.
Sincerely,
Tim
