D-Day Anniversary

On June 6, 1944, Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy to fight Nazi Germany, and effectively gained a secure position from which further progress could be made into Europe. It is the largest amphibious assault in military history and cost the lives of many American soldiers.

I would like to thank all the veterans who served in World War II and all those who have ever served in our armed forces for the sacrifices that they have made. It is because of them that our country remains the land of opportunity.

The Obama Administration’s Secret Slush Funds

The federal government has gotten away with overspending for too long. It is not fair that taxpayers have been held responsible for the government’s failings over and over again-from bailouts to Obamacare-and I have been working tirelessly to ensure that the American people are not being taken for granted.

In an effort to remove themselves from public scrutiny, the Obama Administration devised a plan to extract money through legal settlements that are not subject to the budget or appropriations process, and new bureaucracies, such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, are using them to fund leftist activist groups.

Jobs Report

Last week’s jobs report was absolutely terrible. With nearly 500,000 people simply giving up looking for work last month, and only 38,000 jobs added, we are left looking at this startling fact: more than a dozen times more people stopped looking for work than found a job last month. That puts a sharp focus on the failed policies of the White House over the past 8 years, and why it is so important that we find a new path.

My

Opportunity Agenda

focuses on education and jobs – from school choice to technical training – in order to build a foundation for success. That foundation is not built on Washington succeeding, but rather the ingenuity of the American people.

Palmetto Wednesdays

Every Wednesday when the

Senate is in session

, I invite South Carolinians to come to my office in Washington at 11 AM for great conversations and some southern hospitality. We make plenty of real sweet tea, put out some Lay’s potato chips that were proudly made in South Carolina, and look forward to meeting constituents. Please contact my office at (202) 224-6121 for more information or to let us know you’ll be joining us!

Sincerely,

Tim
