South Carolina Receives Personal Protective Equipment:

Last Monday, I joined Governor McMaster, Boeing, and others to welcome 150,000 protective eye goggles and face shields to South Carolina. This important PPE will support health care workers at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in their fight against COVID-19.

As the son of a brave woman who has worked in healthcare for 45 years, I applaud Boeing and MUSC for their partnership to provide resources that keep our healthcare workers safer. Thanks to the efforts of organizations like these and individuals fighting on the front lines of this battle, South Carolina continues to soar. Watch my speech from Charleston International Airport

Senate HELP Committee Hearing:

Last Tuesday, the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) held a hearing. With top officials from the White House Coronavirus Task Force in attendance, the meeting focused on safely getting back to work and school.

After discussing the current testing situation in South Carolina, I questioned Dr. Anthony Fauci about protecting our most vulnerable populations. You can view my question and Dr. Fauci’s response

Police Appreciation:

Last Wednesday, I cosigned a senate resolution commemorating National Police Week 2020 (May 10 through May 16). To honor the wonderful United States Capitol Police – and officers all over the country – I released our newest

Sharing Good News:

Throughout my past few weeks of work in the capital, I have been continuously inspired and encouraged by the good news that flows from our state. South Carolinians are truly rising to the challenges of this time, making sacrifices for one another’s well-being.

This week, I released my third
#TSGoodNews
installment, which features The Meeting Place Church of Greater Columbia providing thousands of masks to the community. You can watch the video on any of my social media pages, or by clicking

.

If you have good news to share, please email

to tell your story!

Resources:

If you are feeling ill, click

for information from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control on tele-health options. More complete information on resources for South Carolinians is also available on my
website
or my
Facebook
page.

As our state continues to reopen, please remember to wash your hands thoroughly for 20 seconds, use cloth masks in public (leaving medical-grade masks for medical personnel), and – critically – stay home when feeling ill. More CDC guidelines and other helps are available at
www.coronavirus.gov
.

Thank you again for your work in stopping the spread of the virus and, now, in restarting our economy. I look forward to seeing great days ahead as South Carolinians continue to work together.

Sincerely,

Tim
