HOW MAY WE HELP YOU?

The family of Sgt. Michael Pitek contacted Senator Manchin’s office requesting assistance in obtaining his long overdue Purple Heart and other awards.

Michael was drafted to the Army Air Corps on October 21, 1942, where he became part of the 345th Bombardment Group known as the Air Apaches. His squadron was the 498th, known as the Falcons.

On January 3, 1945, Michael’s plane was hit by enemy fire and crashed in the Philippines. It wasn’t until April of 1950 that his remains were brought home and interred at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery. After communicating with Senator Manchin's office, Sgt. Pitek's family received the medals he earned for his heroism and service. Click here or the image below to watch how Senator Manchin's office was able to help.
