A message from Senator Thom Tillis

This week, I joined President Trump at the White House to commemorate the record-setting pace of President Trump’s judicial nominees, now at more than 150 judges confirmed and counting by the week.

I am proud to be on the frontlines in the successful effort to guide President Trump’s judicial nominees through the confirmation process, including putting Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court.

I also introduced legislation with Senator Burr that cuts red tape at the federal and state levels in order to bring federal disaster relief to North Carolina families and local communities sooner.

North Carolina families are unfortunately all too familiar with the destruction caused by natural disasters like Hurricanes Matthew, Florence, and most recently Dorian. We cannot let bureaucracy stand in the way of helping them get their lives back together.

This week, my work on behalf of North Carolinians resulted in nearly $75 million being awarded to the state.

We secured more than $51 million in transportation grants after advocating on behalf of local communities. One of my top priorities is modernizing North Carolina’s infrastructure and working with our local communities throughout the federal grant process to make sure their applications are as strong as possible.

North Carolina also received a $23.7 million investment in high-speed broadband infrastructure that will create or improve rural e-Connectivity for nearly 8,750 rural households in North Carolina.

This follows a roundtable I hosted earlier this year to talk about the need for rural broadband access and find ways the federal and state government can work together to reach more North Carolinians.
